Jorias might hit on a plan for getting the memories from the souls in the axe. If they could get the souls to collect in a certain spot, it could be dissolved in alkahest and distilled into a drink with the the help of Theft of Memory. Stag (and Bezul, perhaps) might be able to possess the axe and drive the souls into the tip.
