Tanador sent this poem privately to Allegra, largely to help himself out through a crisis of faith.

Words don't come as I watch men burn,
     But later,
I weep not for the dead
But the killer I've dined with.
Water shrouds men and harbored disgust,
For I see the good guys won.

Spirits run high as scarlet blood runs,
     But later,
I weep not for the dead
But mere silver they died for.
Tears run still in settling dust,
For I guess the good guys won.

Dawn bleeds thick in pathways of thorns
     But later,
I weep not for the dead
But the game we all play.
Pawns lie still and dying in rust,
Please tell me the good guys won.

Blade sinks deep and my victim dies,
     But later,
I weep not for the dead
But the faith I gave up.
Doubt claims me for one lethal thrust,
Why? Haven't the good guys won?

Dust lies still and weapons grow cold
     But now
I weep long for the dead
And the soul that was mine.
Killers surround me, but therein lies trust
After all, the good guys won.
