Hoi Polloi

The least of the guiding intelligences of Kinaniz, Hoi Polloi started life as a common diplomat, but was inadvertently pulled into the unshaped merge that formed Kinaniz, joining with several other scraps of consciousness. She has been driven slightly mad over the ensuing centuries, and tends to focus on her own pleasure and that of Kinaniz as a whole. This often places her at odds with Misplaced Promise and the Regency, but they indulge her on occasion. Of the three, she has the least connection to Q'in Sanizaj, and easily the most alien mindset.

Hoi Polloi generally takes the form of a wild looking woman in tribal make up and a red cape, carrying a short spear. She can take other forms as well, including that of a Tribute Bird.

Misplaced Promise owns Hoi Polloi's Heart and Ring graces. Her heart has been placed in Kinaniz's bonefire, which allows her to enflesh herself within the freehold, becoming aware of all things the happen within and shape as if present anywhere within (all such tests adding Essence successes). She can also spy on any carrying the freehold's pennants or cysts. Promise used her Ring grace (a brightly painted wooden top) to form Kinaniz's fountainhead. By agreement, Hoi Polloi was allowed to attune to this structure, allowing her to sense everything that happens in the Kinaniz, or near its pennants or cysts. She may also use Ring defenses against shaping attacks against the Freehold's waypoints and can make Ring-shaping actions in any of them.

Hoi Polloi owns and possesses her Cup (a crystal hourglass containing only a single grain of pink sand), Staff (a silver snuff box) and Sword(a small metal frying pan) graces, all of which are held on her person.
